Installation in
Columbiana, OH
Nikola Landscape Lighting lights Columbiana homes with low-voltage LED systems we design on site and install ourselves. The median age here is 52.1, so we light the steps and the last few feet to the front door first, with even, low light and no bare lamp in anyone's line of sight. Nikola Landscape Lighting, Canfield Ohio covers this area.

Accent Lighting & Soffit Lighting
Columbiana, Two Counties
Where the path matters more than the facade
More about lighting in Columbiana, OH
Columbiana was laid out in 1805 by Joshua Dixon and William Heald and it straddles a county line, sitting in both Columbiana and Mahoning counties. The 2020 census counted 6,559 residents across 6.15 square miles at an elevation of 1,125 feet.
One figure in that census matters more than the rest for lighting: the median age here is 52.1 years. State Routes 7, 14, 46, 164 and 344 all pass through the city, which is a great deal of through traffic for a place that size.
That is a materially older town than most of the region and it reorders the priorities on a property. Steps, level changes, the transition from drive to walk, and the last few feet to the front door are the parts of a scheme that get used every night by everyone in the house.
Even, low, continuous light along a route beats a bright pool at either end, because the eye adapts to the brightest thing in view and everything dimmer than it goes black. Glare counts for more at that age as well, because the eye scatters more light as it gets older and a bare lamp in the sightline does more damage than it would to someone of twenty.
The Jones-Bowman House dates to 1842 and is believed to have been part of the Underground Railroad. Buildings of that age in this part of Ohio are generally simple in outline and modest in scale, with the interest in the proportions and the brickwork rather than in applied ornament.
Restraint reads better on them. Two or three sources doing precise work look right where a dozen turn an 1840s house into a showroom.
Firestone Park opened in 1935 on 53 acres donated two years earlier, the town's calendar carries the Harvey S. Firestone Festival of the Arts and the Shaker Woods Arts and Crafts Festival, and Firestone Farms is built as a 1930s-themed retail center. There is an established local taste for period detail here. Respecting it means warm color temperature and concealed fixtures rather than contemporary hardware sitting in plain view on a period elevation.
The population estimate had risen to 6,757 by 2023, so unlike much of the surrounding valley Columbiana is still adding houses. New construction and 1840s brick sit within a few streets of each other, and they are not lit the same way.
A new build has clean unbroken planes and takes wall grazing badly, because there is nothing for the light to catch. Its interest is in the massing and the entry, and that is where the fixtures belong.
At 1,125 feet the town sits well above Youngstown at 856 feet and Warren at 886. Higher, more open ground means longer sightlines and less shelter, and a property here can often be seen from further away than its owner realizes.
That is an argument for settling the scheme from the end of the drive, at night, rather than from the doorstep looking out. Firestone Park's 53 acres sit inside the city limits and give the streets around them a dark edge to work against.

Columbiana FAQ
Landscape lighting questions in Columbiana
How much does landscape lighting cost in Columbiana, OH?
Each Columbiana design is sized to the home and the property, and in a town with a median age of 52.1 the walk and the steps come first. It starts with a complimentary on-site consultation, and you see the exact price before any work begins.
Do you install landscape lighting throughout Columbiana County?
Yes. Columbiana straddles the line between Columbiana and Mahoning counties, and we design, install and service low-voltage LED landscape lighting on both sides of it, along with the rest of our Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia region.
How long does a landscape lighting installation take in Columbiana, OH?
Columbiana sits in two counties, Columbiana and Mahoning, with most of the city in Fairfield Township. The county line does not change the job. The size of the design does, and installation takes one day at the short end and up to one month at the long end, with the schedule confirmed after the on-site consultation.
Do you service landscape lighting systems in Columbiana after installation?
We do. In Columbiana the lit walk and steps are used every night, so service keeps them right: bulb replacement, re-aiming, transformer checks and seasonal adjustments as plants grow. Our 24-month workmanship warranty covers the install.
