Installation in
Boardman, OH
Nikola Landscape Lighting designs and installs low-voltage LED lighting for Boardman homes, from the Tudor Revival fronts of Newport Village to the long postwar ranches built after 1950. A steep half-timbered gable and a low ranch facade need different fixtures, so every layout is drawn on site. We install outdoor lighting across Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

More about lighting in Boardman, OH
Boardman was founded in the late 1790s by Elijah Boardman, a land agent for the Connecticut Land Company who later served in the United States Senate, and the township was formally established in 1806. It grew from 1,104 residents in 1910 to 42,518 by 2000 and stood at 40,213 at the 2020 census, across 23.5 square miles of land at 1,056 feet. Almost all of that growth arrived after 1950, which is why the township reads as two separate places after dark.
The older one is in the historic districts. Newport Village is Tudor Revival and Colonial Revival, and St. James Episcopal Church has stood since 1828. Tudor asks for something different from Colonial.
Half-timbering, steep gables and irregular massing want light that finds the texture and leaves the roofline dark, while a Colonial Revival front is symmetrical and takes a matched pair cleanly. Running one fixture layout across both styles is the quickest way to make a distinctive house look generic. Forest Glen Estates is a second recognized district in the township, and Forest Lawn Memorial Park and the Southern Park Stable are on the register as well, so the older fabric here is scattered rather than gathered into a single core.
The newer Boardman is postwar. Subdivisions built from the 1950s onward put long, low, horizontal facades on wide lots, and vertical uplighting scaled for a two-storey elevation simply washes out the siding on a ranch. Those fronts respond instead to light grazing along the wall and to depth in the planting beds, where a few well-placed sources create shadow and give the elevation something to sit against.
Boardman takes in part of the Mill Creek Park Historic District, and the park carries an eleven-acre rose garden, waterfalls, a lily pond, marshland and Lanterman's Mill. Properties near a park edge borrow that darkness, which is the one thing that cannot be bought on a suburban lot.
Fixtures aimed back toward the house preserve the black backdrop. Fixtures aimed outward across it throw the advantage away.
US Route 224 and State Route 7 carry the township's commercial spine, joined by Interstate 680, and strip development along 224 goes back to the 1950s. Homes within sight of those corridors already sit in borrowed orange light. Contrast is what makes a lit garden register, so where the background is bright the sensible answer is warmer color and fewer, better-placed fixtures rather than a brighter scheme trying to win an argument with a car lot half a mile away.
At 23.5 square miles Boardman covers enough ground that no single plan travels across it. A lot backing onto parkland, a 1920s house in a historic district and a 1960s ranch on a half acre are three different problems sharing one postal address.
What they have in common is that the answer starts from the street view at night, before a single fixture is chosen. The second question is what the household actually uses after dark, because across 23.5 square miles of mixed stock that answer varies more than the architecture does.

Boardman FAQ
Landscape lighting questions in Boardman
How much does landscape lighting cost in Boardman, OH?
It depends on the house and the lot, and Boardman has everything from Tudor Revival homes in Newport Village to wide postwar ranch lots. We design around what you own at a complimentary on-site consultation, then give you an exact price before any work begins.
Do you install landscape lighting throughout Mahoning County?
Yes. Boardman and our Canfield base are both in Mahoning County, and we design, install and service low-voltage LED landscape lighting across the township and the rest of the county. The same crew covers our Pennsylvania and West Virginia towns.
How long does a landscape lighting installation take in Boardman, OH?
Boardman Township covers 23.8 square miles and includes the Newport Village Historic District, so yard sizes vary a great deal. That is why a landscape lighting installation here can take as little as one day or as long as one month, based on scale. We confirm the schedule after the on-site consultation and before work begins.
Do you service landscape lighting systems in Boardman after installation?
We do. A service visit covers bulb replacement, re-aiming, transformer checks and adjustments as the landscaping grows. Boardman installs also carry our 24-month workmanship warranty.
