Christmas Lighting in Ravenna
Rented roof lights for Ravenna winters
Ravenna Christmas lighting from Nikola is a rental. We design the display, install it on your roofline and yard, service it through the season, and take it all down in January to store until next year, so nothing lives in your garage. Ravenna is 15 miles east of Akron, where the average first freeze is October 21 and the average last freeze is April 26.
Because it is a rental, you are not buying strands that sit in a bin between seasons. Every year the lights come out sized to your roofline, and we handle the ladder work. The Akron record counts 40 days a year at or below freezing, so a January ladder is a cold ladder.
More about lighting in Ravenna, OH
Ravenna's holiday kickoff in late November opens with the Ravenna Balloon A-Fair's Light-Up Parade on Main Street, followed by a Christmas tree lighting on the Courthouse Lawn.
Benjamin Tappan reached the site on June 11, 1799, and his wife, Nancy Wright, suggested naming the settlement for Ravenna, Italy. Tappan filed the town plot on April 22, 1808, and Ravenna became the Portage County seat that year.
The first county courthouse and log jail went up in 1810, a brick courthouse replaced them in 1830, and that building was enlarged in 1881. State Routes 14, 44, 59 and 88 all pass through the city, which lies south of Ohio Turnpike exit 193 and north of Interstate 76 exit 38.
The Congregational Church, founded in 1822, was the first church in Ravenna, and the Catholic church was dedicated in 1842. A glassworks that opened in 1848 is counted as the town's first true industry. The Cleveland and Pittsburgh Railroad brought rail service in 1851, and by 1909 nearly 50 passenger trains arrived each day.
Telephones arrived in 1882, and East and West Main streets were the first to be paved, in 1898. Through the 1920s the A.C. Williams Company was the world's largest cast-iron toy maker.
Downtown Ravenna carries several National Register listings, among them the East Main Street Historic District between Clinton and Linden streets, the Phoenix Block at Main and Chestnut, and a row of Riddle Blocks along Main Street. The Etna House at 219 1/2 West Main Street, the C.A. Reed House at 229 West Riddle Street and the Griffin houses at 409 and 417 South Walnut Street are listed too.
Abraham Lincoln spoke from the train here on February 15, 1861, on his way to his inauguration, and a plaque from 1985 marks the spot. A $3 million restoration of the downtown in the late 1990s was meant to preserve its architecture and history.

Earlier is better, and in Ravenna that means ahead of the first freeze, which averages October 21 at Akron, 15 miles west. Approve the quote, pay the 50% deposit, and your spot is held on our installation list. From there we text the installation date and send a heads-up when we are on the way.
We provide them, in custom commercial-grade lights and decorations that you pick from. Design, installation, maintenance, removal and storage all come with the job, and for any Ravenna home we store your lights and decor between seasons.
Call us and we come back out. Akron's snowfall averages 47.2 inches a season, and Ravenna is 15 miles east of it, so a run that goes dark in a snowy week is worth a call. Maintenance is part of the job, not an extra, and it sits alongside installation, removal and storage under Complete Care.
Removal starts after January 1st and runs into February, weather depending. Akron, 15 miles west of Ravenna, averages 27.9 degrees in January, so expect cold when removal begins. We take down the lights and decor and store your set until the next season.
There is no flat price, because each Ravenna display is quoted for the individual home, with digital mockups plus terms and conditions. A 50% deposit secures your spot once you approve the quote. Most homeowners spend roughly $800 to $2,000 with us for a season, depending on the size of the home and how much of it is lit, so call (234) 759-3333 or request a free consultation.
