Christmas Lighting in Cheat Lake
Christmas light rental and install for Cheat Lake
For a traditional look on your Cheat Lake home, we run a full-service Christmas light rental. This is a seasonal program, not a purchase. We supply commercial-grade lights, design the display for your roofline and yard, install it, keep it working through the season, take it down in January, and store it until next year, so you are not left with a tangled box in the garage or a strand that fails halfway through December.
More about lighting in Cheat Lake, WV
The rental covers the whole cycle so you never touch a ladder. We return to fix any outage during the season, and after the new year we pull everything down, at which point the lights, clips, and cords go back to us for storage.
Next season we bring them out again. If you want to change the design, add a section of roofline, or light more of the yard, we adjust the plan before install.
Cheat Lake is a 13 mile reservoir on the Cheat River, from one to three miles wide, that was called Lake Lynn, for the president of the West Penn Company, until 1976. It lies just downstream of the 10 mile Cheat Canyon, and its dam sits directly south of the Mason-Dixon line.
The dam was built as a privately owned hydroelectric project in 1924 to 1926, with the first water over it on December 23, 1925. The lake covers 1,730 surface acres.
Three marinas, Edgewater, Cheat Lake and Sunset Beach, sit toward the river end of the reservoir. Interstate 68 crosses the lake.
The water partly covers land where an iron industry worked at and around Ices Ferry in the nineteenth century. Mont Chateau State Park ran along the shore from 1955 to 1977, and the community around the lake covers 15.8 square miles.
Coopers Rock State Forest covers 12,747 acres and its southern edge abuts the lake and the canyon of the Cheat River. The Civilian Conservation Corps built much of it from 1936 to 1942, including rustic chestnut picnic shelters that are on the National Register. Its main overlook looks over the Cheat, Snake Hill Wildlife Management Area across the river, and Morgantown to the west.

Got Questions?
Frequently asked questions
Booking early helps. Approving the quote and paying the 50% deposit holds your place, and the house is then added to our installation list.
Cheat Lake is counted in the Morgantown area, where the January daily mean is 32.0 degrees, right at the freezing point. A text brings your installation date, followed by an alert when we are on the way.
Everything comes from us. Cheat Lake homeowners pick from commercial-grade lights and decor, and the job covers design, installation, maintenance in the season, removal and storage. Tree lighting is one of the options on our list.
If a strand goes dark after a storm, phone us and we return to fix it, since maintenance through the season belongs to the job and is never an extra. Elevation matters for weather around Cheat Lake, because Coopers Rock State Forest nearby reaches 2,000 to 2,400 feet, against about 800 feet on the Monongahela in Morgantown.
Takedown begins after January 1st and carries into February, weather depending. It is a window and not a single date, because January in the Morgantown area sits right at the freezing point, and a Cheat Lake display comes down inside that window. Afterward your lights and decor go into storage until next season.
There is no flat price, and no two quotes match. Each Cheat Lake display is priced for the individual home, and the quote includes digital mockups plus terms and conditions.
After approval, a 50% deposit secures the spot, the balance is due once installation is done, and most homeowners spend roughly $800 to $2,000 for a season. Request a free consultation or call (234) 759-3333, and Luke calls you back about your house.
